Using a grant from Indian River Community Foundation, Senior Resource Association in Vero Beach Florida moved into Phase two of their long-term vision to better meet the needs of Indian River County’s older adults. This grant allows the agency to add ServTracker Mobile Meals App to upgrade the level of service offered to nutrition and case management customers, while at the same time streamline operations.
The organization is already in a two-phase technology/capacity initiative, completing phase one with the implementation of ServTracker’s desktop application in every department except transportation. This grant funding will cover phase two of the initiative, to upgrade hardware, software, and procedures and utilize ServTracker’s mobile technology for both its Nutrition and Case Management departments.
For the Nutrition department, which runs Meals on Wheels Indian River County, the upgrade will include use of both the ServTracker mobile routing feature and the ServTracker mobile routing change of condition feature. It is anticipated that completion of phase two will contribute to meeting the organizations strategic goals that include:
- increasing customer service
- validating the outcomes of the wellness check aspect of home delivered meals
- improving data integrity and retention
- improving compliance
- increasing organizational capacity
- developing opportunities for inter-organizational collaborations
- increasing funding and funding diversity
- securing MOW place as a valuable part of the healthcare continuum.
Shawna Callaghan, Director of Programs and Senior Resource Association, says they chose a phased approach because “breaking something down into phases makes it feel more achievable and it also gives you benchmarks to reach and celebrate, which is integral to managing change. This requires a complicated orchestration of providing services, monitoring client welfare and needs, and changing or increasing services as required by the inevitable social, cognitive, and physical decline caused by aging.”
