COVID-19 Updates from NANASP

NANASP is working to keep members up to date on the COVID-19 crisis.

Excerpt from their website: 

“We recommend that members read this list [UPDATED MONDAY, MARCH 16] of FAQ on nutrition programs and their current authority under the circumstances from the Administration for Commuity Living (ACL). We will continue to update this FAQ link as ACL issues new guidance.

We also recommend that members look at the ACL website on COVID-19 which has up-to-date information both for older adults and for program providers.

The National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging has a collection of up-to-date, helpful resources as well.

The CDC has issued a guide for caregivers and home care. They have also created a video for older adults.

NANASP and Meals on Wheels America are working to obtain further guidance, funding and flexibility for nutrition programs. We sent a joint letter to the Administration and issued a press statement. This issue has received coverage in The Hill and Civil Eats.

On Saturday, March 14, the House passed a bill that would provide $250 million in funding for senior nutrition programs: $160 million for home-delivered nutrition, $80 million for congregate nutrition, and $10 million for tribal nutrition programs. NANASP and Meals on Wheels America issued a joint press statement in response. The bill was signed into law on Wednesday, March 18 [press statement] On March 27, the President signed another bill providing another $500 million in funding for nutrition programs [press statement]
